In constant struggle to have the fastest and coolest product at the market, the memory makers are coming out with some innovative products. We got an opportunity to be the first in the world to test/review the latest addition to the OCZ Flex series, the OCZ DDR2 PC-10000 FlexXLC modules. These are one of the coolest modules out there at the moment, and also represent the fastest OCZ has to offer at the moment. However, these modules are not only about frequency, but also about latencies. We often see high speed modules with crappy latencies, but with this set you can count on decent latencies as well. OCZ guarantees 5-4-3-15 at DDR2 1250, which can be called low latency considering the speed of the modules.

What makes these, and the whole FlexXLC series unique is the cooling solution. These modules have hybrid cooling. You can cool them by air or water. Though air will suffice in a standard case, if you decide to cool your system with water, you will probably loose some airflow in your case and it won?t be enough to cool the memory modules. On the other hand, if you decide to overclock, you will probably raise the voltage and will require additional cooling. In each case, you will be covered with these modules since their cooling solution is equally efficient in both cases. The other interesting thing about these modules are latencies. Most high speed modules we tested worked at 5-5-5, while these run at 5-4-3 without sacrificing the speed. We must admit that the latencies are impressive. This is probably the best word to describe them?
