OCZ Vendetta2 review - Performance

To benchmark the Vendetta2’s cooling performance we used an Intel Core2 Quad X9650 CPU. Since it’s a 45 nm chip, it doesn’t put as much strain on the cooler, but its four cores will still give Vendetta2 a run for its money.

Idle performance was measured after 15 minutes of no interaction with our Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x64 running system, and full load was achieved with Orthos software on all four cores on both standard settings and 4.2 GHz overclock. We also included results for one of the most popular air coolers today, Zalman 9700 NVIDIA edition, and also a Corsair Nautilus watercooling system with OCZ’s Hydroflow HFMKI CPU block attached to it. This was a very early Hydroflow sample but it still serves its purpose to see how Vendetta2 does against watercooling.

We already said that the smaller Vendetta (1) managed to come very close to Zalman 9700 and other 120 mm coolers. It is therefore no surprise that  the new Vendetta 2 was always at least 3 degrees cooler than the Zalman, and that it came very close to the watercooling system.

All measurements were done in an airconditioned room at 22 degrees ambient temperature to keep the conditions constant throughout the test.
