This quad-core CPU is the best intel has to offer at the moment, so our expectations were high. But first let's take a look ak the specifications:
- CPU Speed: 3 GHz
- Bus Speed: 1333 MHz
- Bus/Core Ratio: 9
- L2 Cache Size: 8 MB
- Manufacturing Technology: 65 nm
- Core Stepping: G0
- Thermal Design Power: 130W
- Thermal Specification: 64.5°C
- Core Voltage: 1.100V-1.372V
After initial inspection, we started overclocking the CPU. Our maximum stable overclock was 3881MHz (431x9). We were impressed since we were able to push the FSB about 50MHz higher than before, and the maximum stable frequency was increased by some 150MHz. The CPU got quite hot (over specified temperatures), but was stable.
