EVGA e-GeForce 7950 GX2
This EVGA product sure makes you think about Quad SLI, since it was designed to be paired with another card like this one, thus bringing the total amount of available GPU's to four. But even on its own, this card is a monster, bringing the benefits of SLI to customers without a SLI capable motherboard.
Just like all the other GX2 cards, this one consists out of two printed circuit boards (PCBs). Each carries a GeForce 7900 Series (G71) chip, with 16 ROPs, 24 pixel shaders and texture address units, and 8 vertex shaders. The operating clock of the chips is 500 MHz. Each PCB is also equipped with 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM working at 1200 MHz, essentially doubling the available bandwidth, since each GPU has to store locally all of the texture data.
The card features two Dual Link DVI connectors, supporting resolutions up to 2560x1600. When you run it in SLI mode, however, only one of the connectors is available, thus limiting you to one monitor. The good thing is that it features only one extra power connector, and not two as some would expect. The cooling setup on the card is silent and effective. Being an Nvidia solution, the card also supports cool stuff like PureVideo HD to enhance your video viewing experience. The package contains (other than the card itself) two DVI to VGA adapters, an HDTV and an S-video cable, a 6-pin power cable to connect to a molex if your PSU doesn?t have an appropriate connector, the user manual and a CD with drivers and some trial software.
