Radeon HD4870 review
- Conclusion

We can see that the 4870 is truly an excellent product. Its simple design and performance on par with the GTX 280 in some cases but above GTX 260 in almost all made NVIDIA drop prices for its new family almost immediately after the launch. Right now, 4870 is priced around 10% less than the GTX 260, and almost 30% lower than the GTX 280, while delivering similar performance. Other advantages include support for DirectX 10.1 (not that you will get anything from that with current games), support for 7.1 surround sound over HDMI and an advanced video decode engine. At the end of the day, the customer profits from this price war, as you can get a card performing just as well as the competitors flagship for around $300 or €230. Do we dare even to recall the times when the flagship card cost more than $/€500?
