If you take a look at the past year, the most significant event of the year was AMD?s purchase of ATi. With this acquisition AMD hopes to further increase their market share. On the other hand you could say NVIDIA sided with Intel for the time being since the new generation of their chipset was first introduced for Intel processors. However, this happened mainly because Intel?s processors are preferred over AMD?s at the moment among enthusiasts, but also because AMD?s 4x4 was a delayed paper launch. In this bipolar situation, we got an interesting motherboard equipped with ATi?s chipset (owned by AMD) for Intel processors. The board comes from DFI and is called LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G. It is interesting to note that DFI was the first and only company to come out with motherboards based on RD600 for Intel processors. DFI has had some great products in the past and has always strived to offer more. Their nForce 3 and 4 are legendary products that offered revolutionary features and top performance at the time. DFI?s boards were always different, and so is LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G. Just imagine what DFI engineers had to go through to make this motherboard happen. Our best guess is that ATi?s support in making of this board was minimal. On the other hand ATi claimed that RD600 would be the ultimate overclocker/enthusiast platform, so DFI?s job was nothing but easy. The result is here, so let?s take a look at it.
