The Board

The layout of the board is pretty much standard for DFI and has been seen on several previous models. Our board had eight SATA connectors, four provided by the chipset and four provided by Silicon Image Sil3114CTU. There are two PATA connectors, something we like since there are many boards these days that only have one PATA connector and that just isn?t enough for many systems. The backpanel has six USB ports, two Gigabit Ethernet ports powered by Marvel, coax S/PDIF in and out, FireWire connector and two PS/2 connectors. The board also comes with a Krajan module that supports 7.1 surround sound. There are two PCI Express 16x and two PCI Express 4x slots. There are also two slots between the PCI Express 16x slots which will give you more freedom when it comes to cooling high end graphic cards. The board also has three PCI slots. When it comes to power supply we were surprised not to find a molex onboard. There is a 24 pin connector, a 8 pin connector and a floppy power connector just next to the memory modules. We?re guessing the floppy connector is used to power up memory modules when you overclock. This board features a two-digit LCD debug screen, a feature often seen on other boards, but not a common one on DFI. The debug codes are pretty much standard and you will not have any problems decoding them if you ever used anything alike.
