ASUS Striker Extreme review

Being NVIDIA?s e-tail partner, EVGA was the first to offer nForce 680i SLI boards. Today we are reviewing the second nForce 680i board, and we must say we are not surprised it comes from ASUS considering the fact that ASUS is the biggest motherboard maker in the world. EVGA uses NVIDIA reference design so one could think that they pushed their chipset to the limits, on the other hand ASUS decided to design their own board. So on one side we have a board designed by the chipset maker, and on the other side is the board that?s coming from the biggest motherboard maker with loads of experience in motherboard design. It is definitely interesting to compare them, and that?s what we are going to do in this article.
ASUS is well known for its rich bundles, and this board is following that trend. Box is similar in size to the EVGA package and is loaded with stuff. There are more than enough cables to cover all the connectors on board, but that?s pretty much common on enthusiast boards. Apart from that ASUS bundles a microphone that should be mounted on the top of the screen, a copy for Ghost Recon, InterVideo Media Launcher and a DVD with NVIDIA drivers, ASUS utilities and Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Like EVGA, ASUS includes an optional fan for those that choose to overclock.
