Pre-Taipei Tour - AirLive's 15-year Anniversary - pt.1

Rarely in life you have a chance to see things that I've had a chance to see in the past couple of days. Coming to Taipei a couple of days before the Computex show actually proved to be a even better choice then I initially expected, with many interesting things happening along the way. At the same time, most of the people I know that have actually been to Taiwan before told me that at this time of the year - it's usually at least 10 degrees more hot and humid, with Sun doing the usual 100% round. Travelling here with stopovers at Munich and Hong Kong (10-hour stop) proved to be pretty cool, as well. But all of that was nothing compared with what I lived to see here in Promised Land Resort, where selected number of people and media are spending a couple of days before Computex.
I've been working with people from AirLive for the past three years now and I've always been aware of the fact that this is one of those companies that you just have to like working with. From initial contacts in 2005 'til today this was "one of these companies" - always interested in new technologies, offering support and always pushing forward F1 style. I actually had a chance to do some projects with AirLive equipment as well - from small office wireless installations to hotel installations spanning over a couple of floors and everything inbetween (for example, Hotel Stella in Zagreb, Croatia - click here).Never had any problems, even with some more "advanced" function (increased power output firmwares and stuff). So, I had a pretty good bassis to assume what I'm "probably gonna see" here in the Promised Land Resort but - I ended up being pretty much blown away by events that happened along the way and here, as well.
Drive here took some three hours, combined train+bus. Yesterday we had some problems accessing the Internet, and roughly around 3AM I picked up the courtesy phone and called the reception desk telling them that something must be wrong. To cut the long story short, 'net access started working within its "normal" parameters in a matter of 15 minutes. This just might be a general theory of life - if you don't ask anything, you have less chance to see something happen? :)

I'm gonna wrap this first part and later on, in part 2 - we're gonna discuss today's keynote presentation where we saw quite a few interesting details about upcoming AirLive products which is what it's all about, right? |
