NVIDIA nForce 600i series - Tech preview
Author: Grga Curkovic Date: 08 Nov 2006
The story of the day is the launch of NVIDIA?s new graphics processor and chipset line-up, the nForce 600i line. We could say that the last few months were transitional in the processor and chipset market. The situation should stabilize soon, and the products announced today should stay on the market for a longer period of time. A little under two years ago NVIDIA announced nForce 4, it was a very successful product that was on the market for quite some time. Some 6 months ago came nForce 5, and it seems that it?s going to be replaced by nForce 6 very soon. We suspect nForce 6 could have the lifespan of nForce 4. The chipsets announced today are designed to work with Intel processors, but since first nForce series were designed to work only with AMD processors, we expect nForce 6 for AMD soon. The exact launch date is not know yet, but something is telling us that its launch will be linked to AMD launching their new 4x4 platform. Unlike nForce 5 that didn?t bring all that many new features, nForce 6 has some pretty neat new stuff.
